MATTHEW 5:4 | 4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”
Jesus understood that a grief shared is a grief lessened. Because grief is so vivid and so personal, it can be very isolating. Since no one can fully understand our loss, we are tempted to close ourselves off. Perhaps we don’t want to impose our sorrow on anyone. Maybe our grief feels like a weakness.
But there is a blessing in mourning together, for then we shall be comforted. The group around the cross was really the first grief group. Jesus knew that both Mary and John would be a help to each other in the brief loss before the Resurrection, and the longer absence after the ascension.
Have you shared a grief with someone?
Pray for the grief ministries of VPC.
