Hebrews 7:26-27 | 26 For it was fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, blameless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. 27 Unlike the other high priests, he has no need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for those of the people; this he did once for all when he offered himself.
By living the perfect human life, Jesus did more than provide an inspiring example. He also put Himself in the unique position of being able to offer a perfect sacrifice.
The book of Hebrews contrasts the continual temporary offerings made by imperfect priests with the “once-for-all” sacrifice made by the sinless Jesus. Morally and spiritually unblemished, He perfectly fulfilled the human vocation, and then bore sorrow and punishment on behalf of a guilty world of broken people. His death ended this gracious substitution, in which the judge was judged in our place.
Perfection is not a theory but a person who lived a life of perfect love, perfect truth, and perfect faithfulness.
Praise His name today!
