Seven Last Words Daily Devotional -37

by David Joynt on March 25, 2021

HEBREWS 4:15 | 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who in every respect has been tested as we are, yet without sin.

The battle with evil is also completed, for Jesus, on the cross. In the three classic temptations, and throughout His ministry, Jesus faced the possibility of using His divinity to impress others, to generate faith by means of spectacular proofs, or to coerce it by illicit means. He could have abandoned the way of God, which appeals through truth and grace and suffering love, and ruled human beings by sheer power.

Yet, He never gave in to evil. He never manipulated, He never compelled. In maintaining God’s true character and keeping God’s true methods right to the end, He defeated the evil one.

What was completed on the cross?
