Stress Test Devotional April 20
by David Joynt on April 20, 2024
MATTHEW 6:33 | 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
PHILIPPIANS 1:6 | 6 I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work in you will continue to complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.
We are not just passive recipients of God’s marvelous provision, like invitees to a birthday bash, awaiting the caterer. We are kingdom strivers.
We do have a broad and wide arena for concern and for effort: the kingdom of God. We pray and work for peace to reign, for violence to end, for unbelief to give way to faith, for pain and sorrow to become joy and gladness, for love to triumph over hate. We don’t detach from the world to a serene indifference. We invest and work, always trusting in Jesus, who brought light into darkness, healing into hurt. He will establish His kingdom in us and through us, bringing His work to completion.
Pray today, for an area of brokenness in our city, country, or world.
Gracious God,
Thank You for lifting our eyes from personal worries to the kingdom of God. Help us work today for good purposes.
Amen.
