DEUTERONOMY 6:4-7 | 4 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6 Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart. 7 Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise.
In an age of specialization with literally thousands of different jobs available to concentrate on, it is useful to remember we are all teachers! I am not suggesting we are all professional teachers. But rather all of us, together, are responsible for passing faith and truth on to the next generation. All Israel is given this task in Deuteronomy six. Moses knew that prophets and priests would specialize and bear particular responsibility for instruction. Yet he insists every Israelite has a teaching role, because life is generational, and rising generations depend on experienced ones for their orientation and development.
Do you see yourself as a teacher to someone?
How are your skills?
