Thank God it's Monday Devotional 34

PSALM 23:2, 5 | 2He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters;

5You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

The hard times are more bearable and our burdens lighter when we are accompanied by someone committed to knowing and supporting us. We are not alone! The great poetry of Psalm 23 shows us another role of the shepherd guide: sharing peace and celebration. The wonderful sense of beautiful and abundant provision, green pastures and still waters, is a picture of calm and security. No dehydration in an unforgiving desert, no starvation in a hot and weary land. Helping people find peace and security in their identities and lives is part of the role of a guide.

So is throwing a party and giving a feast, and honoring people in the beautiful and sacred moments of achievement or connection. Anointing guests was a way of showing honor in biblical times. The overflowing cup is the sense of abundance and blessing that leads to praise and thanksgiving.

Do you find ways to help people feel security and peace?

Do you celebrate others and help them feel blessed?
