The Invasion Daily Devotional -35
by David Joynt on January 02, 2021
ACTS 1:10-11 | 10 While he was going and they were gazing up toward heaven, suddenly two men in white robes stood by them. 11 They said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up toward heaven? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”
Christmas marks the invasion of God’s love and truth into the human story in a new and powerful way. But it does not end the battle. You and I face a daily internal struggle between our new and old selves. We fight off habits and vices, we contend with feelings of unworthiness or pride or anger or lust. We also live within a world where truth contends with lies and confusion, where virtue is condemned as well as celebrated, where good struggles with evil.
The initial invasion is only completed when Jesus returns. Then truth will fully prevail, mercy and not power will reign, and righteous judgement will subdue every form of evil.
Do you long for the final victory of love and justice?
Do you fight for it and pray for it?
