The Originals, Week 2, Day 5

by David Joynt on January 18, 2018

ACTS 15:36-38

But even the most positive people and partnerships will have to
deal with conflict. Paul and Barnabas disagreed over John Mark,
a young man that had volunteered to come on a missionary
journey and then given up early on. Paul was convinced that this
failure, which had crippled the work and endangered his partner,
should preclude John Mark from future trips or trusted
assignments. Barnabas disagreed and wanted to give the young
man another opportunity. The disagreement meant that Paul and
Barnabas went on separate missionary journeys and it was
undoubtedly painful for both of them.

Many of our disagreements are unworthy, about trivia. But Paul
and Barnabas were fighting for the right reasons, disagreeing
about the wisdom of a risky appointment, trying to balance the
good for John Mark against the welfare of their sacred work.

Do you fight for the right reasons?

Are you good at risk assessment?
