PHILIPPIANS 2:12 | 12 Therefore, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed me, not only in my presence, but much more now in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
You and I, along with every follower of Jesus, faces crucial spiritual decisions that impact our life and growth in Him. We must decide where and when and how to worship. We must evaluate our own gifts, hone them, and employ them in His service. We will choose spiritual partnerships and ways to use and invest our resources for His glory. We will make decisions about how to respond to doubt, how to endure sorrow and loss, how to share our experiences of God’s grace and truth with others. In all these ways we “work out our own salvation with fear and trembling,” for in these decisions much is at stake. One of the most important of our choices is whom we’ll listen to, imitate, and see as a Christian model.
Our circumstances and opportunities will be unique, of course, but just as the Philippians looked to Paul, we too must choose wisely whose discipleship will influence our own.
What choices do you currently face as you work out your own salvation?
