The Pursuit of Happiness Daily Devotional -22

PHILIPPIANS 1:18b-20 | 18b Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, 19 for I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance. 20 It is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be put to shame in any way, but that by my speaking with all boldness, Christ will be exalted now as always in my body, whether by life or by death.
Paul saw his imprisonment as an opportunity. The Philippians who worried for his welfare and were anxious about losing their spiritual mentor, must have been relieved to hear Paul’s work continued while he was in captivity. Roman guards from the Praetoria were assigned in rotation to watch him and that meant he would talk to every single one! He began to evangelize to his captors. Knowing that a final judgement could end in his death, Paul expresses the sentiment that every mature Christian should feel at the end of their life: God be glorified by my life or my death.
Dying with faith and dignity is a last powerful witness. For St. Paul, facing imprisonment and punishment without fear was as well.
Are there any situations where we cannot glorify God?
What is the hardest area of your life right now to glorify Him?
