The Upside Down World, Week 1, Day 5
by David Joynt on September 14, 2017
Sin is disordered desire. It is confusion in the way we value people, things, and activities. Once we value things in the wrong way, it will lead us to spend our time and energy and resources in the wrong way. Sensual pleasure, for instance, becomes obsession and distraction and dissipation, rather than a gracious gift and a joy.
The blessing of a supreme Good is that it can order our desires and give our life coherence. Rather than being pulled from one thing we want toward another in a long search for satisfaction, we begin to allow all our lesser loves to serve our great love for God.
Desire makes a good servant and a bad master. Do you agree?
