JOHN 14:6 | 6 Jesus said to him, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
1 CORINTHIANS 13:12 | 12 For now we see only a reflection, as in a mirror, but then we will see face to face. Now I know only in part; then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known.
As followers of Jesus, we have some great advantages in our search for truth. Our Lord is the logos, or inner reality of the cosmos, made flesh. We can rely on His teachings that have an authority greater than any other limited human viewpoint. Further, we are part of a long tradition of truth seeking. The Holy Spirit has revealed truth to generations of seekers as they have brought their faith and questions to the scriptures. The same Spirit is active in our current communities, in which we learn from one another. God wants to guide us into all truth through the Bible, the truths we inherit, and the faith communities we live in. The apostle Paul, in 1 Corinthians 13, looked forward to a more complete knowledge in the life to come. We hold onto a confident humility, trusting fully in all God has revealed and recognizing the limits of our own understanding.
Do you have a confident humility?
Gracious God,
Thank You for revealing so much about Your will and ways in scripture. Help us to trust the absolute and final truths You have communicated in Jesus.
Amen.
