PHILIPPIANS 4:4-7 | ⁴ Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. ⁵ Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. ⁶ Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. ⁷ And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Let’s extend yesterday’s discussion of right uses for God’s name. Praise, thanksgiving, and confession are all powerful and beautiful uses for His name. In praise we recognize God’s magnificence, uniqueness, and glory. We adore Him for who He is and also for what He has done for us. Remembering His blessings and gifts we exercise our thoughts and voices in thanksgiving. One of the         specific gifts that draws out our awe and gratitude is forgiveness. Coming to God in honest confession, admitting our struggles, increases our praise and thanksgiving, as we are freed from guilt and shame and released for service and joy.

Take time today to praise, thank, and confess.

Gracious God,

Open our lips that our mouths may proclaim Your praise. Bring into focus each blessing we experience, especially Your forgiveness and   mercy, and fill us with grateful hearts.

Amen.
