1 CHRONICLES 29:10-13 | 10 Then David blessed the Lord in the presence of all the assembly; David said: “Blessed are you, O Lord, the God of our ancestor Israel, forever and ever. 11 Yours, O Lord, are the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty; for all that is in the heavens and on the earth is yours; yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all. 12 Riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might; and it is in your hand to make great and to give strength to all. 13 And now, our God, we give thanks to you and praise your glorious name.
To be part of a community of faith puts us in a unique relation to the God who creates both us and our communities. We discover that we are made to bless and honor God, to celebrate and magnify Him, and that our praise is deepened when it is offered together.
David gives his great prayer of praise in the assembly of God’s people and in the memory of their ancestors. He acknowledges the great truth that all we have and are is a gift from our Creator. From a New Testament perspective, we also know that all we do and say must be made right through our Redeemer, and all we will have and will become will happen by our Renewer.
David was powerful, famous, and admired. Yet he
acknowledged his position and achievements came from God’s hand. Use Verse 12 as a prayer of thanks and personalize it.
