JEREMIAH 29:10-11 | 10 For thus says the Lord: Only when Babylon’s seventy years are completed will I visit you, and I will fulfill to you my promise and bring you back to this place. 11 For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.
The exile also provided a final great opportunity for Israel. It allowed them to experience the blessing of the Return. The reconstituting of God’s people in Jerusalem was a historical miracle and a religious revival, confirming long-held hopes and fulfilling generational dreams. Seeing God’s mysteries work in the vicissitudes of human history in these dramatic ways birthed a greater hope still. The dream of a Messiah and a kingdom of peace and justice among the nations was born.
This dream came to fruition in Jesus.
The exile was the most creative period in Jewish history. Do you agree?
What are you long held hopes and dreams for VPC? For your own life?
