VS. March 11, 2025 Devotional

ECCLESIASTES 9:10 | 10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do with your might; for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol, to which you are going.
Are your dreams sufficiently large? Do your ambitions fit your potential? If you aim at nothing you’ll hit it every time. Setting a small and easy goal is ok—if it is a step toward an audacious one. One of the best practices is to learn to push yourself further than is easy or comfortable.
Giving your best effort honors God, who has given you your capacities and your opportunities. Many things we do, we do but once or twice. We only parent our kids when they are small ones. We only shoulder work responsibilities for a limited time. We serve on a board, or take on a choice role for a short time. Few, if anyone, looks back at opportunities and things, “I put too much effort in—wish I’d done less!” We do not all have equal gifts or opportunities, but we all have the same choice to give our best to whatever we are doing.
What are you giving your best to right now?
Gracious God,
Help me stretch toward bigger goals and see how precious passing opportunities to serve and bless can be.
Amen.
