VS. March 26, 2025 Devotional

by David Joynt on March 26, 2025

ACTS 20:34-35 | 34 You know for yourselves that I worked with my own hands to support myself and my companions. 35 In all this I have given you an example that by such work we must support the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus, for he himself said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”’

Charity changes us now and prepares us for eternity. This reinforces one of life’s most basic lessons, referenced here by Paul, “It is more blessed to give than receive.” Giving and sharing bless the giver as well as the receiver. The people who enjoy life most now, are the generous and not the greedy ones.

Much giving in our lives is predicated on reciprocity. We give and then receive in return. Such giving is the basis of most commercial and business relationships and a first step in learning to share. But genuine charity is directed toward those who cannot return it. This yields greater internal and external rewards.

Is some of your giving charity?

Gracious God,

You are the giver of every good and perfect gift. Open my heart and hands. Let me freely share wisdom, truth, encouragement, and resources.

Amen.
