World Changing Words Devotional-Day 16

JEREMIAH 31:29-30 | 29 In those days they shall no longer say: "The parents have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge." 30 But all shall die for their own sins; the teeth of everyone who eats sour grapes shall be set on edge.
The parents eat sour grapes and the children’s teeth are set on edge. This folk aphorism has a deep truth. Normally what I eat does not effect the digestion of my children—unless I am a breast feeding mother. We eat and digest separately. But this popular saying is suggesting that the sins of parents will impact their kids. The generations share responsibility and a deep connection. Punishment in one generation, like the exile, which resulted from a history of rebellion, will linger and affect many born afterwards. This is a wise and telling truth. Psychology and sociology suggest the deep ways our personalities and possibilities are linked from parents to children. There is a momentum in corporate and individual history.
Have you benefited and been blessed by previous generations?
Have you been hurt?
