World Changing Words Devotional-Day 55

by David Joynt on September 25, 2020

MATTHEW 6:3-4 | 3 But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your alms may be done in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

The teaching about secret almsgiving that Jesus offers in the Sermon on the Mount is both a warning and an encouragement. The purpose of generosity must never be to show off or demonstrate our piety or prove we are philanthropic. Such displays impress others and enhance our earthly cache, but they don’t move our heavenly Father.

The encouragement is even more powerful—God sees every act of generosity. He does not miss one single moment. When we care, when we bless others, he is overjoyed. Small and simple acts of kindness, moments of compassion, they are all celebrated in
heaven.

 Move your heavenly Father today.
