Worldwide Christmas December 22, 2025 Devotional

MATTHEW 1:22 | ²² All this took place to fulfill what had been spoken by the Lord through the prophet.

MATTHEW 2:13-14 | ¹³ Now after they had left, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Get up, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you, for Herod is about to search for the child, to destroy him.” ¹⁴ Then Joseph got up, took the child and his mother by night, and went to Egypt.

Joseph took a faith risk and married Mary. He could have played it safe and protected his reputation in Nazareth. He could have forgotten the angel's suggestion and pursued his own plan. But consider for a moment what he would have missed. He would not have been part of the Christmas adventure, he would never have heard the shepherds' story of the angel chorus, he would never have met the wise men, he would never have made an emergency trip to Egypt. He would never become St. Joseph. He would have missed his life mission. He would have given up the opportunity to play a vital role in God's story of salvation and the life of the Savior. Instead, he opened his heart—God can do a lot with open hearts.
