Worldwide Christmas December 4, 2025 Devotional

by David Joynt on December 04, 2025

LUKE 8:17 | 17 For nothing is hidden that will not be disclosed, nor is anything secret that will not become known and come to light.

There is nothing more frustrating than trying to answer the questions of an inquisitive toddler. The persistent "why?" will exhaust even the most erudite person in a matter of minutes. We cling to a small raft of knowledge in a great sea of mystery. Why are there so many religions? Why is it so hard to fathom suffering? Why is life so mysterious? It is hard to keep track of even a fraction of the debates in science, history, and religion. It is impossible to discover all the answers. In addition, we are a mystery to ourselves. We have questions about our own behavior and motivations that are forever puzzling. There is so much in life that is unknown or hidden. So many human juries cannot reach a verdict! But when Jesus comes it will be a revealing time. There is nothing hidden that will not be revealed, nothing covered up that will not be uncovered. The darkness surrounding so many questions will give way to the light.

Has anyone in your life been a consistent mystery to you?

Are there any big issues you can't wait to have explained? Are they social, personal, scientific, or theological?

We live at a time when confidence in human reason has waned in many areas. How confident are you in the power of reason?

Gracious God,

May we be curious truth seekers today who are confident that You will reveal all things tomorrow.

Amen.
