Jennifer Hamm has been the Minister of Music at Valley Presbyterian Church since July 2015. Jennifer earned her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Arizona State University and her Master of Music in Vocal Performance from University of Colorado, Boulder. Jennifer has directed choirs of all ages and taught general music for every grade level in private schools for several years. Her passion has always been singing and performing and she has been seen on stage in several musicals and operas in Arizona, Colorado, New Jersey and Texas. Her favorite roles include Marian in The Music Man and Adele in Die Fledermaus.
Jennifer gave up her performing career several years ago when she decided to follow in her mother’s footsteps and focus on directing church choirs, her second passion. She has led music programs for seven congregations throughout the U.S. This position at VPC not only brought her “home”, but is also allowing her to fulfill her dream of growing a dynamic music program.
Jennifer’s philosophy of music ministry is to shepherd her flock of volunteers, focusing not only on musicality, but singing from the heart and leading music with joy and real meaning. Her gift is making personal connections with her choir members and using prayer and fellowship to unify the group. All of these things deepen the worship experience making it even more exciting to sing praises to God.
Jennifer enjoys her family time with her husband, Joseph, and their two little musicians, Molly and Jaxon. She gives God all the glory for her many blessings.
