2 CORINTHIANS 4:16 | So we do not lose heart. Even though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed day by day.
Paul has double vision. So must you and I. He can see hard circumstances, face emotional struggle and also see God at work. This verse is one of my favorites! The outer person wastes away! Here there is no pretense, no pretending, no denial. Utter realism and honesty about the human condition. Paul sees the decay of his own nature, the dissolution that comes with age, yet he also sees the inner renewal that belies it. He sees the God–life that is fresh and hopeful and joyous. He has double vision with respect to himself and others.
What is one aspect of aging you find hard?
Look around for someone you know whose “inner person” is full of life, despite their age. Thank them for their witness.
