Christmas at the Movies: Week 2, Day 4

by David Joynt on December 13, 2017

DAY 11

WEDNESDAY | DECEMBER 13, 2017

Luke 5:1-11

The same principle is visible in the crew of disciples Jesus
assembled. Matthew was a tax collector, an accountant with a
grudge, who had betrayed his ancestry and faith by profiting from
the misery of his people and working for the occupying Roman
power. Andrew and Peter and James and John were uneducated
fishermen from Galilee, experts in boats and bait, not scripture
and ministry. The crew Jesus chose to change the world, the
group he invested in to lead his movement, were ordinary,
undistinguished, and in the eyes of the world, unimportant. But
Jesus saw them as the salt of the earth and light of the world,
saints in the making.

Do you have a favorite disciple? Why?

Thank God for the work of the first disciples and their faithful
witness
.
