Here and Beyond Devo Nov 8

by David Joynt on November 08, 2022

JOHN 15:15-17 | 15 I do not call you servants any longer, because the servant does not know what the master is doing, but I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from my Father. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask him in my name. 17 I am giving you these commands so that you may love one another.

Life here and beyond are connected in a variety of ways. One connection is through our legacy. Death is the greatest mystery, and many people I encounter think of it as a final ending or an unexplained reality, either a period in life’s sentence or a question mark. But legacy challenges these ideas, because our natural deaths don’t end our stories or leave us with simple ambiguity.

The way we touch and bless others now continues our influence beyond our earthly lives. This influence is concrete and real, a direct outcome of the way we parent, grandparent, and befriend others.

What relational legacy are you leaving?

Encourage someone you love today.

Consider how Jesus’ relational legacy has shaped the world.
