One of the beautiful things about forgiveness is the freedom that it can bring, including the freedom to be honest. Since we are forgiven by God, the Ultimate Judge, we are not under pressure to be perfect, or even to appear to be perfect. Since our admitted brokenness does not hold us back from divine favor and connection, we can accept our flaws and be honest about them. We waste less energy, because living as if we are faultless is exhausting, and the facade of our sanctity grows heavier and heavier.
Forgiveness allows us to acknowledge weakness and even to lead from it.
