Leading With an Ordered Heart: Day 6

EXODUS 34:6

Just as an ordered heart frees us from the world of confusing demands, it also frees us from a world of unlimited critics. The world is a highly critical place, and this has increased with the rise of social media. Politics has become a realm of character assassination and harsh personal destruction. Cynicism, that rests on an overly critical attitude toward our institutions and history, shapes the temper of our common life. We are likely, as individuals, to face criticism over our appearance, our work, our values, and probably our faith. But God is the Ultimate Judge, and we play for an audience of One. An ordered heart knows that God’s correction comes out of his incredible love and appreciation for his children.

To whom do you give the power of criticism in your life?

Have you chosen wisely?

When has God been merciful and slow to anger with you?
