The Invasion Daily Devotional-13

LUKE 1:76-78 | 76 And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways, 77 to give knowledge of salvation to his people by the forgiveness of their sins. 78 By the tender mercy of our God, the dawn from on high will break upon us.

Every parent has hopes for their child. When asked, parents often point to health, happiness or success. After all no one wants illness, misery or failure! But as disciples we should have spiritual hopes for our children.

Zechariah wanted John to be a prophet, after 400 years without one in Israel. He dreamed his son would prepare people for a deeper experience of God’s salvation and forgiveness. He wanted John to fulfill God’s purpose for his life and to have a spiritual impact. He foresaw a day of peace and understanding and envisioned his child helping to bring it about.

What do you hope for the people of your life?
