The Originals, Week 1, Day 1

by David Joynt on January 07, 2018

WEEK 1 | JOHN

DAY 1 | THE BELOVED DISCIPLE

JOHN 21:20-25

Did you ever watch a small child basking in the love of a parent?
Children soak in affection and attention, absorbing it without
hesitation or reserve. They remind us that life with Christ is
founded on our capacity to receive his love.

John, disciple and author of the fourth Gospel bearing his name, is
identified as "the disciple whom Jesus loved" or simply the
beloved. He was open to the love of his Lord and understood that
to know this love is to know freedom from fear and anxiety,
freedom from false pride and self-justification, freedom from
the hungry ego and the empty heart. We never outgrow our need
to soak in God's amazing love.

Do you take time every day to experience God's loving presence?

Read Psalm 139:1-18 and Ephesians 3:14-19 and hear these
passages as love letters addressed to you.
