The Week That Changed The World Devotional March 22

by David Joynt on March 22, 2024

MARK 14:27-28 | 27 And Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away, for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’ 28 “But after I am raised up, I will go before you to Galilee.”

Desertion and resurrection. Jesus knew the sheep scatter when the shepherd has been struck down. When you are a leader, your fate has consequences and your struggles or troubles have ramifications. Jesus predicted and announced the disciples coming desertion not to disturb them but to prepare them.

Many people are destroyed by their own failures! They are shocked when they act against their own best values and wreak havoc in their lives and relationships. But many wounds are self-inflicted. We all fail. Reassurance comes from knowing God understands our fragility and tendency to mess things up. It does not stop Him from “meeting us in Galilee” to reclaim our hearts and to call us forward, chastened but forgiven.

When has Jesus “met you in Galilee”?

Gracious God,

When I fail, help me remember that You are willing to forgive and renew me. May I meet You “in Galilee.”

Amen.
