World Changing Words Devotional-Day 44

MICAH 2:1-2 | Alas for those who devise wickedness and evil deeds on their beds! When the morning dawns, they perform it, because it is in their power. They covet fields, and seize them; houses, and take them away; they oppress householder and house, people and their inheritance.

Micah was from Moresheth-Gath, a small mountain village
twenty-five miles southwest of Jerusalem. It must have taken extraordinary bravery for him to take on the elite of the great city on behalf of the poor farmers suffering at the hands of their landlords. These leading figures “devise wickedness and evil deeds” at night and then execute their plans in the morning “because it is in their power.”

Justice is primarily about the right use of power, and it is achieved when power is ordered to the will and ways of God. Responsible and not exploitive uses of power must characterize God’s people.

What is your primary source of power? Is it a position you have? A title you carry?

How well do you use the power of your words, emotions, actions, and your resources?
