RECOMMENDED FOCUS: AGES 8+ (3rd grade)

In addition to our financial resources, God has entrusted us with gifts of talents and time. We have the opportunity to glorify God by serving with these.

15 "For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you. 16 Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.”
John 13:15-16

Tips for Teaching Your Child to Serve:

Practice: Take some time to wash each others feet. As you do affirm all the talents and ways you see each other serve others. Talk about it afterward. How did that make each of you feel? What was easy? Hard? Serving others like Jesus can sometimes make us leave our comfort zone. How did this make you leave your comfort zone?
Passions: What hurts your child's heart...makes them want to help? What about your heart?
Plan: What are some specific things your family could do this year? (Make some big goals and little goals)

Tina Gilbreath, her husband Todd, and her 4 children Wil, Annie, Adam & Charlie have been members at Valley Presbyterian church since 2005.  Originally from Tucson, she is a Wildcat through and through and received her BS in 1988 and BA in 1997 at the University of Arizona. She also received her master’s degree in education in 1995. Before staying at home with her kids she taught middle school and led teacher training and staff development at both the district and university levels.

She felt God calling her into ministry at VPC in 2007, and since then has enjoyed working with the children, families, and volunteers at VPC to create dynamic children’s ministry programs and events. As Director of Family Ministries, she relishes helping families nurture the faith of their children, a passion for her. When not having fun hiking, traveling, or hanging out with her family she enjoys reading, painting, and crafting.
