46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:46-47
The phrase ‘breaking of bread’ we read in the Bible is much more than sharing a meal with a friend, it is a lifestyle of worship. For the early church there was no separation between the sacred and the common. In our modern society we have fallen into a place where the sacred happens at church and the common is every other moment. Thankfully God is much bigger than the boxes we attempt to place Him in, for the Spirit is with us always and God is present in all. I am so grateful for the worship we experience together at VPC on Sunday mornings. It is a unique moment in the rhythm of our week where we come together to glorify God as a community. How good it is to see the faces of people glorifying God. The worship we enjoy together and offer up to God, opens us up to experience God’s activity all week long. Life Happens Here.
Do you draw a line between the sacred and the common?
How would you describe your lifestyle of worship?
