Your Summer Reading List June 10, 2026 Devotional

Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.’ In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
Luke 15:8-10

In this parable we meet a lost coin, a coin that does not even know that it is lost. But this coin is important to the woman (it would have been a day’s wage). We learn that the woman used precious oil to light up her house to search for the coin all night. The women would have worked all day to earn the coin and labored all night to find it—and the coin does not even know its worth to the woman!

It is a wonderful thought to consider that God loves us even before we know God. It is amazing to me that God is searching us out before we even know we are lost. This is the kind of love that God has for each and every one of us.
