Testimony

I was unchurched for almost 25 years when my two children told me they wanted to go to church and join a youth group. We visited six churches and all chose Valley Presbyterian Church. My faith journey at VPC began in 1989, one hour a week of worship and then get on with my life. I was a casual believer. In 1994, one of my children was found by her biological mother. On a Saturday she flew off to meet that family. I was crushed—was I being replaced? The next day I went to church and heard Pastor Tom Erickson preach a sermon on “Nature vs Nurture”, the importance of both. WOW! Was he preaching just to me? (But I had never spoken with Dr. Erickson.) I knew then that God had sent Pastor Erickson as a messenger to tell me God was at my side in this journey and for the rest of my life. My faith strengthened that day and continues day by day. I will always remember and be grateful for that sermon given at the perfect time in my life.
