I am a Christian saved by grace, with both feet planted on holy ground. However, it has not always been so. My mother who faithfully walked close to Christ introduced me to the risen Lord. Under her encouragement I gave my life to Christ at the appropriate early age of 12. And I sorrowfully confess that I have not always been faithful. My early years were spent tinkering with the charms that surrounded me. Of course, on Sunday I was faithfully in my pew praising God. And during my time in high school, college, and serving in the army, I drew away from my early commitment, not acknowledging my faith in either word or deed. In early marriage I was faithful on Sundays, accepting leadership roles in the churches and active in Bible study where we worshiped. But the magnetism of the world was a strong pull. And I sorrowfully confess that I lived one day a week on ‘holy ground’ and six days a week in the world. While I always claimed my Christian faith, I did not often demonstrate it. Over time the Lord pulled me more dramatically into the inner sanctum of His fellowship. He lives within me moment by moment and I can firmly say that This World is Not My Home. And because He lives I can face all of the tomorrows that God grants me. And what a joy it is to be part of the family of God. What a joy it is to be part of Valley Presbyterian Church.
